Hewland Engineering discovers significant data regarding wear and protection afforded by Millers Oils
Hewland Engineering, one of the world’s leading race gearbox manufactures, is now exclusively recommending Millers oils for use in their gearboxes . This is based on real world data that they collected from 7 LMP2 teams that were running Hewland gearboxes at the 2017 24 hours of Le Mans. In the practice weeks leading up to LeMans, Hewlands various customer teams ran various gearbox oils. Before the race, in order to provide the best possible equipment for the grueling race, Hewland routinely rebuilds the boxes after the final practice session and takes oil samples for further study. The Hewland technicians noted such a visual difference in the condition of the transmissions between those that were running Millers Oils and those that were not, Hewland recommended that all 7 teams use Millers oils for the race. Pre and post-race Oil data analysis showed that there was on average, 3 times less ferrous material in the Millers oil as the other oils that had been used, which confirmed what the technicians saw during the rebuilds. And that was that Millers Oils protected the transmission components better than the other oils that had been used.
